Masaruna: Reproductive Health and Rights
A long-running awareness project bringing clear, frank information about reproductive health and rights to communities across the region — with young people, girls and women at its centre.
Masaruna is one of PDO’s most comprehensive projects, run in partnership with Oxfam Netherlands. It began in 2023 and is set to continue through August 2025, dedicated to spreading intensive, detailed awareness about reproductive health and rights.
Who it reachesFor the whole community
The project speaks to all parts of society, with a particular focus on youth, girls and women — the groups for whom accurate information about reproductive health and rights can be hardest to find, and most consequential when it is missing.

How the work happensAwareness, in the open
Through workshops and group sessions, Masaruna turns a sensitive subject into an ordinary, discussable one — meeting people where they are and giving them information they can trust and act on.
Masaruna spans both PDO’s Development and Protection programs; you may wish to file this story under both.
